MetalONE: Powder Spreader Reduction Kit

28 September 2025

Sharebot and Politecnico di Torino Present the Powder Spreader Range Reduction Kit for MetalONE 65×65

Sharebot is pleased to announce the development of the Powder Spreader Range Reduction Kit, an innovative accessory for the MetalONE 65×65 selective laser melting (SLM) printer. This project was made possible through the collaboration between Sharebot and the Politecnico di Torino, a longstanding partner in research and additive manufacturing.

The collaboration has deep roots: the Politecnico di Torino was the first institution to acquire the initial version of the MetalONE, later upgraded to the version 2 model. It was precisely on this platform that the Powder Spreader Range Reduction Kit was designed, tested, and validated.

A Solution for Research and Development

The accessory reduces the MetalONE’s build area from 65 mm to a compact 10 mm diameter zone, enabling efficient material testing, small-scale prototyping, and research activities where flexibility and powder economy are essential.

Thanks to this new solution, laboratories and research centers can minimize material consumption while maintaining the precision, repeatability, and reliability that characterize MetalONE printing processes.

In-House Development, Open to Collaboration

This achievement was possible because Sharebot designs and develops MetalONE entirely in-house, both hardware and software. This approach allows the company to rapidly implement new functionalities and respond to the needs of research institutions and industrial partners.

Sharebot remains open to dialogue with public and private research organizations, with the goal of co-developing new features that extend the potential of metal additive manufacturing.

Strengthening the Link Between Academia and Industry

The Powder Spreader Range Reduction Kit exemplifies the positive outcomes of collaboration between academia and industry. By combining the research expertise of the Politecnico di Torino with Sharebot’s engineering capabilities, this project demonstrates how partnerships can accelerate innovation and contribute to the wider adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies.

With this new development, Sharebot reaffirms its mission to support both the industrial and academic communities with accessible, sustainable, and research-driven solutions in metal 3D printing.
