So it is good to ask yourself some questions: what help can 3D printers give to medicine, our health and the improvement of health treatments?<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div><div  class='flex_column av-rljetn-1c34141442df4431baf05070096d215a av_two_third  avia-builder-el-6  el_after_av_one_full  el_before_av_one_third  first flex_column_div  column-top-margin'     ><p><section  class='av_textblock_section av-l8isb4zn-37f226f569e91368781a510703dd3b10 '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>A valid example of excellence and innovation comes from the <strong>General Surgery Department of the Sacra Famiglia Fatebenefratelli Hospital in Erba (LC)<\/strong>, where thanks to the use of a <strong>Sharebot 3D printer<\/strong> it was possible to <strong>reproduce real anatomical organs and structures to perform simulations of surgical interventions<\/strong> or some <strong>fundamental surgical steps<\/strong>, such as that of videolaparoscopic cholecystectomy.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-l8is9g1c-7a1d8d37185d9038da4007a8754ea5a8 '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p><strong>The experimentation phase in collaboration with Sharebot<\/strong> led to the creation of a model that represented a <strong>section of the liver and its gallbladder<\/strong> using a <strong>particular printing material<\/strong> (LAY-FOMM) available in spools of filament. The latter, after having spent a period in water, thanks to its <strong>bi-material porous composition<\/strong> (a rubbery part and a soluble PVA-based part), proved to be particularly <strong>similar to organic tissues<\/strong>, also <strong>allowing the sealing of the surgical stitches<\/strong> comparable to that of live tissues. The consistency and tension capacity combined with the <strong>residual moisture maintained after immersion<\/strong> in water were found to be <strong>comparable to their organic This operation, <strong>carried out inside a Pelvic Trainer<\/strong> (laparoscopic simulator) allows surgeons to <strong>learn the correct technique<\/strong> and experiment with new <strong>non-invasive removal techniques<\/strong>. The liver, thanks to its elastic capacity, is also used as a support to optimize the technical capabilities of laparoscopic stitches and traditional sutures.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-l8iv64m7-c54824ab45a99251750ee37a75ac3f65 '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>The liver and gallbladder in a single model are joined directly by support structures. Using the Raft and the Supports we then developed a model of only the gallbladder in which raft and support, mimicking the hepatic bed, allow to simulate the section plane with the liver.
